Mendaro es un municipio español de la provincia de Guipúzcoa, en la comunidad autónoma del País Vasco. En esta localidad se encuentra ubicado el Hospital de la comarca del Bajo Deva.
El valle de Mendaro aparece ya mencionado en textos escritos que datan del siglo XIV, aunque no se constituyera en municipio hasta 1983. Este topónimo hace referencia al punto del valle del río Deva donde éste confluía con el Kilimon, ensanchándose y formando una vega.
