Burjassot[1] es un municipio y ciudad de la Comunidad Valenciana, en España. Perteneciente a la provincia de Valencia, se sitúa en la zona noroeste del área metropolitana de Valencia, en la comarca de la Huerta Norte. Cuenta con 38712 habitantes .[2]
El topónimo deriva del árabe برج السد , «torre del azud».[3] El historiador Escolano consideraba que el origen de la segunda parte del topónimo era el término valenciano sot , motivo por el cual en el escudo aparece una torre flanqueada de árboles.[4] Otros autores lo han hecho derivar de «torre de Asoto» o de «torre de Asswad».[4]
