Losar de la Vera es un municipio español, en la provincia de Cáceres, comunidad autónoma de Extremadura. Se encuentra en la mancomunidad de La Vera, en la EX-203, junto a Jarandilla de la Vera. Pertenece al partido judicial de Navalmoral de la Mata y tiene 2658 habitantes.Se desconoce el origen exacto del topónimo de Losar de la Vera. Por un lado, es posible que la palabra "Losar" derive de las grandes losas de piedra sobre las que se asentó el casco antiguo de la aldea originaria.[1] Según el Diccionario de la Real Academia Española, "losar" es un verbo que significa "cubrir con losas el suelo".[2]
