Teruel es una provincia española de la comunidad autónoma de Aragón, con capital en la ciudad homónima de Teruel. Se encuentra mayoritariamente en el área meridional del sistema Ibérico, aunque una parte del noreste provincial, en el llamado Bajo Aragón, pertenece ya a la depresión del Ebro. Su superficie es de 14 809 km² y su población asciende a 134 545 habitantes , de los cuales una cuarta parte viven en la capital. Ello supone una densidad de población de 9,08 hab./km², una de las más bajas del país. Comprende actualmente 236 municipios, la mayoría de ellos de escasa población. Los municipios más importantes, además de la capital, son Alcañiz, Andorra, Calamocha, Calanda y Utrillas.
