El País Vasco o Euskadi[nota 3][nota 4] [nota 5] es una comunidad autónoma española, considerada nacionalidad histórica,[1] situada en el extremo oriental de la costa del mar Cantábrico, limítrofe con Francia. Se compone de las provincias o territorios históricos de Álava, Guipúzcoa y Vizcaya. La ciudad más poblada es Bilbao, seguida por Vitoria y San Sebastián. Su población es de 2,16 millones de personas; cerca de la mitad vive en el área metropolitana de Bilbao.[8] Limita al este con Navarra y el departamento francés de Pirineos Atlánticos , al sur con La Rioja y al oeste con la provincia de Burgos y Cantabria.
