Espelette [3] es una localidad y comuna francesa situada en el departamento de Pirineos Atlánticos, en la región de Aquitania y en el territorio histórico vascofrancés de Labort. Su nombre proviene del topónimo en euskera Ezpeleta, voz que significa "bojedal".
Espelette destaca por ser el centro de producción de pimientos de calidad que reciben desde el año 2000 la calificación oficial de AOC Piment d'Espelette-Ezpeletako Biperra así como por la cría de caballos de la raza pottoka. Es la localidad natal del naturalista Armand David, descubridor para el mundo occidental en el siglo XIX de la existencia del panda gigante.
