La Operación Cobra es el nombre en código de una ofensiva aliada lanzada por el Primer Ejército de Estados Unidos, siete semanas después de los desembarcos del Día D, durante la campaña de Normandía de la Segunda Guerra Mundial.La intención del teniente general estadounidense Omar Bradley era de aprovechar la preocupación de Alemania con las actividades canadienses y británicas cerca de la ciudad de Caen, e inmediatamente rebasar las defensas alemanas que estaban presionando a sus tropas mientras los alemanes estaban distraídos y desequilibrados. Una vez creado un corredor para las tropas, el Primer Ejército podía avanzar hacia Bretaña, rebasando los flancos alemanes y liberándose de las limitaciones impuestas por el bocage del terreno normando.
