El castillo está situado a 480 m de altitud en el pequeño pueblo de Wangenbourg. Fue construido en el siglo XIII por los señores de Wangenbourg sobre un afloramiento rocoso natural de arenisca de los Vosgos. El castillo servía de defensa contra los saqueadores. Los aldeanos fueron acogidos en el castillo para estar a salvo
Para llegar allí hay que cruzar un puente que lleva directamente al patio interior. Desde aquí se pueden admirar las numerosas ventanas y los restos de una magnífica chimenea gótica. A continuación, puedes acceder a la mazmorra de 24 metros de altura y escalarla si eres lo suficientemente valiente. Una vez que haya subido a la torre, tendrá una vista impresionante del valle de Mossig. La torre está abierta de abril a noviembre. El castillo puede visitarse durante todo el año. El acceso es gratuito durante todo el año. Se puede aparcar en la oficina de turismo.
