El palacio del Elíseo es la sede de la Presidencia de la República francesa. El edificio está situado en el VIII Distrito de París, en la calle del Faubourg Saint-Honoré, y su construcción se remonta al siglo XVIII.
Fue propiedad inicial del conde Louis Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne que mandó construirlo entre 1718 y 1722. A la muerte del conde en 1753, la marquesa de Pompadour compró el palacio para que fuera su residencia parisina, y lo legó a Luis XV a su muerte en 1764. Fue luego comprado en 1773 por el banquero Nicolás Beaujon, que lo cedió en 1786 a Luis XVI reservándose el usufructo. El rey lo vendió en 1787 a su prima Batilde de Orleans, duquesa de Borbón, que lo ocupó excepto durante su arresto entre 1793 y 1795, bajo la Revolución francesa.
