El delta, la desembocadura del Leyre en la bahía de Arcachon, se compone de múltiples lugares en los que se yuxtaponen partes estables ocupadas por praderas salinas, zonas de diques, cañaverales, praderas de pastoreo y sectores sometidos a la dinámica de las mareas, bancos arenosos y marismas. El agua dulce del río y el agua salada del océano se unen y favorecen el establecimiento de especies específicas. Situado en una de las rutas migratorias más importantes de Europa, es un verdadero santuario de aves. Un circuito de 9 km permite descubrir el bosque de galería a lo largo del Leyre y las llanuras húmedas rodeadas de marismas más abajo.
