El estanque de Commelles es uno de los lugares más notables del bosque de Chantilly
Forman parte integrante de un espacio natural de interés ecológico, faunístico y florístico y están protegidas como lugar catalogado en el Domaine de Chantilly y pertenecen al Parque Natural Regional de Oise-Pays de France. Desde principios del Romanticismo, este lugar, muy frecuentado por los artistas, inspiró en particular a Chateaubriand, quien nos cuenta:
"Hubiera encontrado los misterios de la vida en el torrente del Thève:... muere en los estanques de Comelles que alimentan su juventud, incesantemente caduca, incesantemente renovada..."
A saber: Todos los años, en marzo, miles de ranas y sapos vienen a aparearse en los estanques. Las carreteras se cierran por la noche para evitar que sean atropelladas por centenares de personas.
Pasee a pie, en bicicleta o a caballo por los 4 estanques, admire el Château de la Reine Blanche y haga una pausa gastronómica en la Crêperie l'Etangs d'Art
