El frontón es una coronación compuesto de una pieza moldeada y un tímpano : el tímpano puede ser más o menos perforada, ocupan sólo una parte de la superficie delimitada por el marco, o reducirse a una red; el marco está formado por una cornisa y dos rastreo (rastreo cornisas). Generalmente los rastreos tienen las mismas moldura de cornisa, sin cimacio. La base puede ser interrumpido, pero no hay que confundir el frontón (que tiene una base moldeada horizontal) y cornisas mitra o semicirculares (que cubre los tímpanos no delimitadas abajo).
