El bosque de Hayra es el hábitat típico del pájaro carpintero dorsiblanco. Un vasto hayedo sombreado con poca maleza y algunos abetos, ofrece un ambiente de cuento de hadas sin igual. Además del famoso pájaro carpintero, también están representados sus primos manchados y negros, siendo estos últimos a menudo los más ruidosos
La enredadera de madera también está presente aquí.
El valle en el que se encuentra el bosque está atravesado de sur a norte por un pequeño arroyo llamado arroyo Hayra, que se sigue en gran medida en el camino hacia el bosque. Aquí puede buscar la lavandera común y el mirlo acuático.
