El pueblo de Surbourg es conocido como la tercera etapa de la Ruta del Románico Alsaciano. La antigua colegiata de Saint-Arbogast data de la primera mitad del siglo XI (primer románico alsaciano). Se construyó en el emplazamiento de la abadía más antigua de Alsacia.
Desde 1550, Surburgo albergaba una importante comunidad judía, hoy desaparecida. Aunque la sinagoga fue destruida, aún puede verse un rastro de su existencia en una casa de 1724 situada en el número 4 de la rue du Général-Leclerc. Pueden verse inscripciones en hebreo.
Para llegar al pueblo, puede tomar la línea Estrasburgo ? Haguenau a Wissembourg y bajar en la estación de Hoelschloch-Surbourg.
