Stevenage es una pequeña ciudad y distrito en Hertfordshire, Inglaterra. Se encuentra entre Letchworth, al norte y Welwyn Garden City, al sur. La población ha variado mucho a lo largo del tiempo, siendo de 1430 habitantes en el año 1801, de 4049 en 1901 y de 79724 habitantes en el año 2001. El mayor incremento de la población sucedió entre los años 1950 y 1960, después de que Stevenage fuera nombrada ciudad bajo el amparo de The New Towns Act of 1946.
Stevenage deriva del Inglés Antiguo, significando algo así como " el fuerte roble". El nombre fue acordado como Stithenaece, en el año 1060 y Stigenace en 1806.
