Tetford está listado como "Tesforde" en el Libro Domesday, con un molino, probablemente en el sitio del actual molino de agua del siglo XVII cerca del centro del pueblo.
La parroquia contiene huellas de antiguos campamentos que se cree que son de la época sajona. Se dice que es el sitio donde Raengeires, un britano, derrotó al general sajón Horsa en una gran batalla.
