La escultura fue encontrada en 1928 en el fondo del mar cerca del cabo Artemisio, al norte de la isla de Eubea. Uno de los brazos de la estatua fue encontrado dos años antes, en 1926. La estatua viajaba dentro de un barco datado entre fines del siglo I a. C. y comienzos del siglo I. En la actualidad se encuentra en el Museo Arqueológico Nacional de Atenas.[1]
