Caere [1][2][3] fue una antigua ciudad de Etruria, a poca distancia de la costa del mar Tirreno, junto a un río llamado Caeretanus Amnis a menos de 50 km de Roma. Hoy es la ciudad de Cerveteri.
El territorio de la Caere independiente se extendía al sur, hasta el Tíber o cerca de este río, y limitaba con los territorios de Veyes al este, y Tarquinia al norte. Al oeste tenía el mar y en la costa estaba su puerto, Pirgi. Probablemente Alsium era una ciudad dependiente. Artena estaba próxima al territorio de Veyes, pero parece claro que pertenecía a Caere. Por la parte de la costa era cruzada por la Vía Aurelia, que seguramente tenía una ramal que se desviaba hasta la ciudad. Otra vía llevaba de la ciudad a la Vía Clodia.
