Las Marcas , es una de las veinte regiones que conforman la República Italiana. Su capital y ciudad más poblada es Ancona. Está ubicada en Italia central, limitando al norte con Emilia-Romaña y San Marino, al este con el mar Adriático, al sur con Abruzos, al suroeste con Lacio, al oeste con los montes Apeninos que la separan de Umbría, y al noroeste con Toscana. Con 9366 km² es la sexta región menos extensa del país, por delante de Umbría, Friul-Venecia Julia, Liguria, Molise y Valle de Aosta, la menos extensa.[1]
