La iglesia era medieval, pero fue destruida durante la última guerra mundial y luego reconstruida en estilo románico por el arquitecto sienés Menotti Lucattelli.
En el interior hay un fresco independiente de la Virgen y el Niño del pintor Maestro di Signa de principios del siglo XV; también cabe destacar una fina estatua de madera policromada de San Bernabé de un escultor de mediados del siglo XV, posiblemente florentino. Además, el cuerpo de San Fausto el Mártir se encuentra en un santuario, que fue donado a la iglesia por una familia rica de Siena. A partir de ese momento, San Fausto se convirtió en el protector del Chianti y los fieles pedían su ayuda durante la sequía o durante la vendimia.
