Comrat es una localidad de Moldavia, capital de la región autónoma de Gagauzia. La ciudad es la más grande en términos de población y centro de transporte, político, económico, cultural y científico de la autonomía de Gagauzia. El nombre es de origen turco.
El territorio de Comrat comenzó a ser poblado en torno al año 1789 y recibió privilegios de ciudad en 1957. Cuando la ciudad formaba parte de la República Socialista Soviética de Moldavia la industria de Comrat se concentraba en la producción de mantequilla, vino y alfombras, ornamentadas con motivos moldavos. La Universidad Estatal de Comrat fue inaugurada en el año 2002.
