Herten es un lugar y un antiguo municipio independiente, que el 1 de enero de 1991 fue incorporado al municipio de Roermond. Tenía el 1 de enero de 2021 8.005 habitantes. Herten, junto con los lugares Swalmen, Boukoul, Asenray, Leeuwen, Maasniel, Ool y Roermond, forma el municipio de Roermond.
