En el Hotel de Wereld, Alemania, representada por el general Blazkowitz, se rindió a los aliados el 5 de mayo de 1945 y firmó la paz para toda Europa noroeste. En su memoria se ha instalado la placa conmemorativa.

El 1 de diciembre de 2005 se descubrió la placa conmemorativa para el Príncipe Bernhard. La placa se ha instalado en la plaza del 5 de mayo.
