Beesel es un municipio en la provincia neerlandesa de Limburgo. El municipio de Beesel se encuentra entre Swalmen, Belfeld, Kessel y Brüggen. El municipio tiene 13.403 habitantes y una superficie total de 29,15 km², de los cuales 27,99 km² son tierra y 1,16 km² agua. Beesel se menciona por primera vez en 1275 y formó junto con Belfeld durante siglos un único banco de concejales. Durante mucho tiempo, ambos lugares pertenecieron al Overkwartier o Alto Gelre español. En 1713, se unió junto con otros municipios como Estado Alto Gelre a las Provincias Unidas.
