El Fuerte Isabella es una obra de fortificación destinada a la defensa de la ciudad de 's-Hertogenbosch, ubicada en el lado norte del actual municipio de Vught. El nombre del fuerte proviene de la archiduquesa Isabella, duquesa de Brabante e hija del rey español Felipe II. Además de ser una fortificación, otra función importante del fuerte era el alojamiento de una parte de la guarnición. En y alrededor de 's-Hertogenbosch estaban acantonados muchos militares en esos tiempos. La fecha de inicio de la construcción de este fuerte no se conoce exactamente, pero se estima alrededor de 1614. Lo que es seguro es que el fuerte ya existía en 1618. Junto con el fuerte de San Antonio, este fuerte debía proteger el lado sur de 's-Hertogenbosch. El Fuerte Isabella fue construido como un baluarte pentagonal regular, con cinco baluartes.
