El pueblo está situado al suroeste de Gorredijk, en la carretera principal hacia Heerenveen. El pueblo se encuentra aproximadamente a medio camino entre los dos lugares. La carretera principal ha sido desviada mediante la construcción de una carretera de circunvalación alrededor del pueblo. En 2021, el pueblo tenía 1.050 habitantes. También se incluyen en el pueblo los distritos de Nieuwe Vaart y Wijngaarden. El pueblo de Jonkersland fue también un distrito de Langezwaag hasta 1988.
