La estatua fue realizada por P. Jungblut de Bilthoven y muestra a la virgen holandesa con espada y cruz. El monumento a los caídos fue inaugurado el 1 de noviembre de 1946. El monumento contiene los nombres de los habitantes del municipio de Losser que cayeron en territorio neerlandés y en la antigua Indias Orientales Neerlandesas durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Más tarde se añadieron los nombres de cuatro víctimas de las denominadas "acciones policiales" en las Indias Orientales Neerlandesas (1945 - 1950).
El monumento se encontraba originalmente en la Gronausestraat, pero tuvo que ceder su lugar al nuevo edificio de Rabobank en 1979 y luego recibió su ubicación actual.
