Frisia es una región histórica al sureste del mar del Norte en lo que hoy es parte del territorio de los Países Bajos, incluida la provincia neerlandesa de Frisia y pequeñas porciones del territorio de Alemania. Es el hogar de la nación sin estado de los frisones.
Los tres grupos de las islas frisias se extienden más o menos en forma correspondiente a lo largo de estas tres secciones de la costa de la bahía alemana.
