Los Aa-broeken constituyen un relicto del antiguo paisaje de valle de arroyo del río Aa. El área está compuesta por praderas, intercaladas con setos, bosques caducifolios húmedos y zonas de pantano. En el marco del suministro de trabajo, se construyó una pista de hielo municipal en la década de 1930.
El municipio de Veghel ha determinado actualmente que los Aa-broeken deben convertirse en un área natural especial. Con la compra de 10 ha. de tierras agrícolas se compensará la construcción de la A50 en esta área. En el marco del Plan Maestro de Aa, esta área se desarrollará como pradera natural rica en flores, pantano y bosque pantanoso. Con la ayuda de senderos y caminos, el área será adecuada para el recreo. Al mantener la humedad del biotopo en el área natural, la flora y fauna originales tendrán una nueva oportunidad.
