Staatsbosbeheer compró campos de brezo en esta área desde 1911. También en los años de crisis alrededor de 1930 se llevaron a cabo muchas actividades de desmonte en las que se emplearon trabajadores en el marco de la provisión de trabajo. Las tierras primero fueron aradas con la ayuda de yuntas de bueyes. Luego, el área se sembró con lupino y serradella como abono verde para preparar el terreno para la silvicultura. Se formó un bosque variado en el que la picea, la picea de Sitka, la douglas austríaca y sobre todo la lárice japonesa y la roble nativo y americano prosperaron bien, según un artículo en la revista Spitwark de la asociación histórica Carspel Oderen. El pino silvestre tuvo un rendimiento significativamente peor.
