Geiranger es una pequeña localidad turística en la parte occidental de Noruega en la región llamada Sunnmøre en el municipio de Stranda. Queda en la cabecera del fiordo de Geiranger, que es un ramal del Gran Fiordo . La ciudad más próxima es Ålesund. Geiranger ofrece paisajes que le ha merecido ser considerado como el mejor destino turístico en Escandinavia por la guía Lonely Planet. Desde 2005, el fiordo de Geiranger ha sido incluido en la lista de la Unesco como un lugar Patrimonio de la Humanidad.
En su puerto recibe una media de 140-180 cruceros durante los cuatro meses que dura la temporada turística. Varios cientos de miles de personas pasan por aquí cada verano y el turismo es el negocio principal de las 250 personas que viven aquí de forma permanente. Hay cinco hoteles y más de diez lugares de acampada. La temporada turística se extiende desde mayo hasta principios de septiembre. Fuera de temporada la actividad se reduce a la de una pequeña ciudad noruega.
