Skellefteå es una localidad en el norte de Suecia, capital del municipio homónimo, en la provincia de Västerbotten. Posee una población de 32 772 habitantes, según el censo del 2010. En el dialecto local la «å» del nombre se omite, y se pronuncia Skellefte.
El río Skellefte atraviesa la ciudad 15 kilómetros antes de su desembocadura en el golfo de Botnia .
