Cardia fue una polis griega, antiguamente capital del Quersoneso Tracio , que estaba situada a orillas del golfo de Melas , en la costa septentrional del istmo del Quersoneso, a unos 40 km al nordeste de Sesto. En origen fue una colonia de Mileto y Clazómenas en el siglo VIII a. C.; posteriormente, en época de la tiranía de Milcíades , también recibió colonos atenienses.
Sirvió de base naval a la Liga de Delos durante la Guerra del Peloponeso, pero esto no hizo necesariamente a Cardia proateniense: cuando en 357 a. C. Atenas tomó el control del Quersoneso, bajo el gobierno de un príncipe tracio, fue la única que permaneció neutral.
