La batalla de Edesa fue un enfrentamiento militar librado en 260 entre las legiones del Imperio romano, lideradas por el emperador Valeriano, y el ejército del Imperio sasánida, comandado por el sah Sapor I, terminando con la victoria de este último y la captura del emperador.
Valeriano pasó a ser el primer emperador romano capturado en batalla por un enemigo extranjero.[3]
