La batalla de El Álamo fue un conflicto militar crucial en la Revolución de Texas que consistió en un asedio de 13 días de duración, desde su inicio el 23 de febrero hasta el asalto final del 6 de marzo de 1836. Enfrentó al ejército de México, encabezado por el presidente Antonio López de Santa Anna, contra una milicia de secesionistas texanos, en su mayoría colonos estadounidenses , en San Antonio de Béxar, en la entonces provincia mexicana de Coahuila y Texas .
Todos los beligerantes en favor de la República de Texas murieron, a excepción de dos personas, lo cual inspiró a muchos colonos texanos —y aventureros estadounidenses— a unirse al ejército de Texas. Animados por el deseo de venganza, a partir de la crueldad mostrada por Santa Anna durante el asedio, los texanos derrotaron y masacraron mientras dormían al ejército mexicano en la batalla de San Jacinto, el 21 de abril de 1836, poniendo fin al movimiento revolucionario.
