Está cerca de la Universidad de California en Santa Bárbara y la ciudad de Goleta. El aeropuerto se anexó a la ciudad de Santa Bárbara por un corredor de 11 km de largo y 90 m de ancho, principalmente debajo del Océano Pacífico . La mayor parte del aeropuerto está a 10 a 15 pies sobre el nivel del mar y limita con un área de humedales, la Goleta Slough.
