La zone municipale est située dans la haute vallée de la rivière Gurk, au sein de la chaîne de montagnes Nock. Au nord, la route de Feldkirchen mène au col de Turracher Höhe et au lac de Turracher à une hauteur de 1 763 m AA à la frontière avec Predlitz-Turrach en Styrie et descend plus loin dans la vallée de la Mur. Un autre petit lac de montagne est le Falkertsee à 1 872 m à l'ouest. Reichenau est le terminus est de la route panoramique Nockalmstraße à travers les montagnes Nock jusqu'à Krems.
