Elmen se trouve à 978 mètres au-dessus du niveau de la mer, a une superficie de 29,63 km² et est situé à 23 km au sud-ouest de Reutte. La commune se compose du village éponyme d'Elmen ainsi que des villages de Klimm et Martinau. Elmen est situé dans la vallée du Lech entre Vorderhornbach et Häselgehr, à la frontière entre la partie supérieure et la partie inférieure de la vallée du Lech.
