St. Jakob in Haus est la plus petite commune du district de Kitzbühel et se situe dans la vallée de Piller, qui se détache de Fieberbrunn. La commune de presque dix kilomètres carrés comprend, en plus du petit village avec l'église du village, plusieurs hameaux, dont Moosbach et Mühlau, qui sont devenus des agglomérations plus importantes. S'y ajoutent encore de nombreuses fermes isolées.
