L'entreprise Voestalpine a été créée en 1858. À cette époque, elle ne porte pas le nom tristement célèbre de Goering.Les usines Voestalpine servaient pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale à produire les Panzers du Troisième Reich. Voestalpine, fermée en 1946 et rouverte en 1955, dans d'autres domaines d'activités, sur décision de plusieurs pays européens.
