Une caractéristique curieuse de l’église de Ternat est la cage d’escalier supplémentaire sur le côté. Dans l’élégante tourelle du côté sud se trouve l’escalier en colimaçon qui donne accès à la tour et à la chambre des cloches. La tourelle porte une cruche, faisant allusion à la seigneurie de Kruikenburg.
