Ronquières est une section de la ville belge de Braine-le-Comte située en Région wallonne dans la province de Hainaut. C'était une commune à part entière avant la fusion des communes de 1977.Une importante réalisation du génie civil en Wallonie, son célèbre plan incliné, ouvrage d'art gigantesque, a été construit pour compenser une dénivellation de 68 mètres sur le canal Bruxelles-Charleroi à 1 350 tonnes. Il est constitué de deux bacs, retenus par des câbles, roulant sur des rails et portant les bateaux.
