Du 8ème siècle date le fait qu'Angela, une noble dame de Brabant, a offert au Saint-Pierre de Cologne l'allod (bien libre) de Leeuw, long de sept milles et large d'un mille, avec l'Église mère et ses neuf églises filles, et la terre du Seigneur et des revenus. Ce texte remonte à l'évêque Hildebald, 785-3 sept. 819, la pleine période carolingienne.
