La bataille des spurs d'or a eu lieu le 11 juillet 1302 sur la Groeningekouter le long du Groeningebeek. Il ne reste plus beaucoup de kouter et de ruisseau. C'est cependant l'un des lieux emblématiques de l'histoire flamande.
