L'Yser est un petit fleuve côtier du nord de la France, dans le département du Nord, et du nord-ouest de la Belgique, dans la province de Flandre-Occidentale.L'Yser prend sa source à Buysscheure et Lederzeele près de Saint-Omer en France à 35 m au-dessus du niveau de la mer. Il s’écoule vers la mer du Nord, en traversant les Flandres française et belge pour rejoindre la mer à Nieuport en Belgique, dans un estuaire très artificialisé.
