La tour de télécommunication d'Egem mesure 305 mètres de haut et se situe le long de la Vliegveldweg à Egem, un district de Pittem. C'est la plus haute construction en Belgique. La tour porte les antennes pour les émissions télévisées de la VRT, les émissions de radio de la VRT et celles de plusieurs autres stations de radio non-VRT. Il y a également un certain nombre d'antennes pour les communications mobiles fixées à la tour.
Avant la privatisation du réseau VRT, dont cette station émettrice fait partie, la VRT a choisi en décembre 2008 l'entreprise norvégienne Norkring.
