À Château Den Brandt, avec son joli jardin français, nous traversons l'allée des hêtres et entrons dans le parc Middelheim. Ce parc est connu pour sa magnifique collection de sculptures d'artistes locaux et internationaux. Tout est en plein air et l'accès est gratuit. La collection continue de grandir.
“En 1950, une exposition de sculptures a été organisée pour la première fois dans le parc. Ce fut un tel succès que le conseil municipal a décidé d'en faire une exposition permanente”, explique Alex. “C'est ainsi qu'est né le musée Middelheim. Vous y trouverez maintenant des œuvres majeures de Vic Gentils, Rik Wouters et Panamarenko jusqu'à Erwin Wurm, Auguste Rodin et Ai Weiwei.”
Si le temps n'est pas clément, vous pouvez vous rendre au Braempaviljoen pour une exposition temporaire. Dans le pavillon de collection tout nouveau un peu plus loin, vous découvrirez des pièces du dépôt du musée Middelheim.
