Dans l'œuvre, le poème de Leonard Segers, un habitant d'Opdorp, est inscrit en lettres noires. C'est une traduction libre du célèbre poème « In Flanders Fields » et constitue un souvenir durable de la Première Guerre mondiale, dont Opdorp n'a également pas été épargné.
