La Grand-Place est un passage incontournable pour les touristes. Son édifice le plus remarquable est certes l’Hôtel de Ville, mais la place tout entière est un monument avec ses magnifiques maisons de guildes et sa fontaine Brabo.
La construction de l’Hôtel de Ville commença en 1561 et prit quatre ans. Un immense incendie le détruisit presque entièrement en 1576 mais les Anversois ne se laissèrent pas décourager et s’empressèrent de le reconstruire. L’Hôtel de Ville fait actuellement l’objet de grands travaux intérieurs et extérieurs. En attendant de pouvoir l’admirer dans toute sa splendeur, venez ici prendre une bonne bière à la terrasse du légendaire estaminet Den Engel ou d’un des nombreux autres cafés qui bordent la Grand-Place.
