Le ferry de Schellebelle est un haut lieu de l'itinéraire et a une longue histoire. Dès le 13e siècle, on parle d'une traversée de l'Escaut pour relier le village aux lacs. Dans les années 1950, le radeau en bois a été remplacé par une barge en fer, qui a fait place à une version motorisée dans les années 1970. L'ancien bateau à rames a trouvé sa place sur la digue de l'Escaut. Pour appeler le ferry, il suffit de tirer la cloche.
